DELTA 1 aims to foster innovative ideas and tackle the challenges in the field of topics related to military.

The place and the date:

The first defence hackathon in Lithuania will take place on April 12-14th at the Lithuanian Duke Vaidotas Mechanized Infantry Battalion in Rukla. While military environment is going to be challenging to some on it’s own,  the real challenge lies in the time dedicated for the event – new ideas and prototypes will be brought to life during ONE weekend!

Hackathon DELTA 1 aims to:

Create new and innovative technological ideas for the defence area

Bring together specialists and experts from the different fields in order to create innovative products and prototypes

Raise the awareness of the military field

Mindaugas has experience of over ten years in product development and innovation. He graduated from Aalto University (Finland) with a doctoral degree in chemical technology. Since then he had several positions starting as a consultant for paper and board industries (The Netherlands). Later he worked in a research project in cooperation with LOREAL, Schneider Electronics, PSA and Arkema in France, where goal of the project was to develop novel bio-based materials. Then continued as product engineer in automotive industry where he worked on a hydrogen fuel system for vehicles. At the moment he‘s leading National Innovation and Entrepreneurship center at Kaunas University of Technology, where he‘s responsible for effective business-science collaboration, early stage business accelerator as well as effective knowledge transfer.mentormentortorsc-

He is awarded Master degree of Social Sciences. In 2009 he participated in foundation of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Center for information Tasks and in 2016 established Information Space Monitoring & Analysis Center at Lithuanian Armed Forces Strategic Communication Department. He also participated from 2015 to 2016 as Junior researcher (open source analysis tools testing/adaptation for a concept evaluation & concept co-creator) in the National strategic research project “Automated analysis of the economic and political state of CIS and Eastern Partnership countries based on open access sources“. Currently he is acting as Head of Analysis division at Armed Forces STRATCOM Department

Dainius Misiunas

Responsible for Lithuania army training areas development and simulation systems integration with Army unit training.

I have been running a series of simulation system integration projects in to the Lithuanian Armed training. I am interested in new technologies, I am a member of various NATO Simulation working groups, actively participating in the community of simulation systems. Also, one of my responsibilities is ensuring safety in training areas, shooting ranges certification and improvement of training areas management.

You can drive by your own car (at the place is parking lot, but the parking places number is limited, you should registered your car identification number in the registration form).

No, it’s not obligatory. At the event you will have a chance to join teams, which already have ideas.

All innovative ideas, which would help to solve military field challenges. You can check the prioritized tracks in the challenges section

You have to have a laptop or PC and the equipment you will need to implement your idea. We recommend you to bring a sports outfit.

Taking in mind, that hackathon will last for one weekend you have to have sleeping bags and all the necessary stuff for sleeping and for longer stay.

Yes, you have to stay for all hackathon days at the battalion. About joining hackathon later than the first day you have to inform organizers ( not later than the registration form will be closed.

Catering will be provided during the event. Breakfast, lunch and the dinner will be provided by organizers. Some snacks will be available too.
